JOB DESCRIPTION: Digital Retouch Manager, Boston
The Digital Retouch Manager, Boston, will help to oversee the creation of the Boutiques on Rue La La, and product images for SmartBargains.com. We're looking for someone with a sophisticated aesthetic sense, who is comfortable overseeing several groups of imaging professionals. You'll be managing a group that prides itself on the excellence of everything they do, that respects and protects the integrity of the brands we feature, and has fun together doing it. This position reports to the Director, Site Content.
Responsibilities:
- Grow, build, and strengthen the existing team, helping to formulate a 7-day imaging team.
- Manage daily workflow and meet production deadlines, both for SmartBargains and Rue La La
- Manage staff of retouchers with varying levels of expertise
- Ability to reprioritize production output without sacrificing quality or end-results
- Collaborate with Ads, Photographers, and Event Production as needed to ensure delivery of end-results
- Use Adobe Photoshop CS4/5 to retouch and produce high quality product jpegs for use on two large-scale, retail websites.
- Collect product images from various sources including in-house photo studio, vendor supplied images and scanned printed materials, then retouch, enhance, crop, color correct, color-shift and manipulate images as necessary.
- Optimize and re-size images to existing company standards for web use.
- Work with Retouch Team Lead and other production team members to ensure product accuracy and image consistency.
- Work on additional ad hoc image projects as needed.
- Train and share new processes and mentor junior associates
- This is a high-volume production position using Photoshop CS4/5 on the Mac platform. This is not a design position.
Qualifications:
- 2 years experience retouching product images for website or print use.
- Proven knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop preparing images for the web.
- Expertise in the following Photoshop techniques is required:
- Image manipulation using adjustment layers with layer masks.
- Image retouching using Healing Brush and Clone Stamp tools.
- Intricate selection and creation of clipping paths using the Pen tool.
- Product color-shifting using masked Color, Hue/Saturation and Levels adjustment layers to create products in multiple colors from a single original.
- Using Actions, Batches and Scripts to automate Photoshop.
- Willingness to learn new methods and techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
